Wow!

Today is the last day in March.
It means that in Japan the new academic year begins from tomorrow.
Actually it has already started because of the time difference though.
Perhaps I said it before, but I cannot believe that it has been more than a half year since I came here.
I have already accomplished 2 quarters.
However it doesn't mean that I have only 2 quarters but I have still 2 quarters.
I do my best as much as possible in 2 quarters.

Learning

From today my host mother is going to Haiti for volunteer.
She goes there every year since 2005? to help children.
She really likes children and their smiles, whose pictures she showed me before.
As she told me, their smiles, especially their eyes are really beautiful.
Also she told me a few things about Haiti.
For example, Haitians speak Creole language, which sounds like French a little but not exactly.
Creole language is influenced by other languages.
It is really interesting.
Therefore she always tells me a lot of things which I don't know.
Also apparently there are a lot which I don't know yet.
I think learning lasts as long as I live and I always want to get something out of everything.

Charity Match

I watched Charity Match with my friends.
Although it was midnight we were excited at it and enjoyed it.
However only I watched the entire game and others fell asleep during the game.
I was almost crying when all of players had a circle and offered a silent prayer for Japan.
And also I was deeply impressed with King Kazu's goal!
He is already 44 years old!
To tell the truth, at first I couldn't believe my eyes but he did score a goal.
Absolutely he encouraged people all of the world.
Honestly I wasn't satisfied with the result.
I wanted national team to score more goal:)

Anyways I'm really happy to watch that match and they inspired me with courage.
I got a power for spring quarter!!!

Our decision

Today one of my friends and I made up our minds.
Between us we talk just in English instead of Japanese.
Both of us think that our English isn't improved.
And our seniors advised her to do so when she met them yesterday.
They did so and then their English become better than they came here.
They said that 6 months are enough to improve our English.
So we do speak only in English.
And also we are going to involve other friends.

It's good time to think why I'm here and what I should do here.

Winter Quarter

Today is the last day of the winter quarter!
It means that I've already stayed here for more than 6 months!!!
1 year is much shorter than I expected!
In other words, however, I still have 6 months.
I have to do what I can do HERE.

By the way, I ate sushi for dinner today.
It was my first time to eat sushi here.
To be honest, it's less good than I expected, because 'shari' was not sour enough and a little bit warm.
It was a great time though.
I want to go to Tsukiji to eat great sushi again!!!

Anyways, the spring break begins!!
However I don't have any plan yet, so I need to think about it.
Hmmmmmm....

Where is My Darling Shoes Going?? 2

I was really suprised because I thought somebody had stolen my shoes.
In fact, the reason my shoes disapeared is that my host mother washed my shoes clean.
I planed to wash them after my finals finish(it's tomorrow) and so I put them outdoor.

I really appreciate her to have do so.
However I wanted her to let me know.

Anyway I am relieved to find them.

St Patrick's Day

March 17 is St. Patrick's Day, which is the anniversary of the death of St Patrick who propagated Christianity in Ireland.
In the Ireland it is one of the national holidays, but in other countries people celebrate this day because there are a lot of Irish and their posterity  all over the world.
In the US this day many people put on "something green" and have beer (lager) and Irish foods.

So yesterday I went to the Irish Pub with my friends.
In town there were a lot of people wearing something green.
Now I remember, in my business class there was one guy who wore green T-shirt, painted his face green and dyed his hair green.
It looked soooooo funny.

Anyways, in the pub there were a lot of people even though it was just at 5 o'clock.
All of them drunk beer, eat irish food and listened to Irish music.
I really enjoyed not only beer and Irish foods but also the atmosphere at that time.

Fund-rasing

Finally my friends and I got up to do fund-raising in our college.
We are going to begin it on this Thursday.

Also one of my friends told me one fund-raising page on the Internet.
This is formed by OVAL, which is a student run organization.
If you are interested in it, please visit this web page.

Where is My Darling Shoes Going??

Last Saturday I put my running shoes in front of the entrance because they were too dirty to return the shelf.
Yesterday I didn't go out at all because of muscular pain and twist in my ankle, and so I couldn't check them.
In this morning when I went out to school, they were where I put on Saturday.
However when I came back home at 6pm, they were not where I put on Saturday.
They are missing!
I am really sad.
They are a pair of my favorite shoes that I have.
Actually I bought them in NY in the winter vacation.
If they were picked of, I'm really shocked.
I hope to find them out.

Ultimate Frisbee

Yesterday I joined the team of ultimate Frisbee and played 5 games of it.
In fact I couldn't play well because it has been a long time since I played it last.
Even though we had heavy rain and strong wind it was such a tough and exciting day.
I really enjoyed.
And also it was good time for me to realize my current English skill.
In all of the teams there are no Japanese players.
(There are some Japanese Americans but they cannot speak Japanese.)
Actually it was so hard for me to understand what they said while playing even though I know the rules.
So I could notice that I need more practice to speak and listen to English.

It was a really good opportunity for me because at that time I played ultimate Frisbee which is my most favorite sports, improved my English skill and made friends from other cultures.

So I appreciate my new friend who asked me to join.
Thank you, Dori!!!!

P.S.
I noticed what I could do for Japan.
"Live my life as usual."
This might be the only what I can do at this moment.
There is no use crying when watching news.
Actually many friends take care of my family, my friends and all in Japan.
Pray for Japan.
Hope for the best.

The Earthquakes

I am surprised the news of the earthquakes in Japan.
It is so terrible.
I can't stop watching NHK news on USTREAM. (I really appreciate the people who are broadcasting it on USTREAM.)
I hope everyone is fine.

In fact my parents are taking a trip to Europe.
Also I can keep contact with my grandparents and they are alright.
However I can't relieve because of a lot of aftershock.

Please be careful.
All I can do is pray for them to be safe.
